Nominate Books for Feast Month at 1book140

By J. Nathan Matias

June is food month at #1book140, our Twitter book club! Help us choose by suggesting great fiction and nonfiction in the comments section.

Suggestions can come from any genre; just remember to tell us in the comment why we should read it. I've recently enjoyed reading by Joe Fassler's interview with chef Dan Barber about the literary influences of The Third Plate, his book about transforming the farm-to-plate movement. I love Feast by Martin Jones, a beautifully-woven narrative anthropology on why humans share food. We also shouldn't forget the great parties of fictionmemoirs of chefs, collections of great food writing, and memoirs of food critics. Books by food bloggers are fair game. I'm also excited about cheesemonger Lucy Knisley's Relish, a graphic novel of her life in the kitchen.

Here at @1book140, we're concluding a fantastic two months reading George Eliot's Middlemarch, which included a Twitter Q&A with Rebecca Mead earlier this week. If you haven't finished the book yet, don't worry! We still have a week more to go!

Nominate Food-related Books for Our June Selection

List your suggestions in the comments by Monday evening. Dana Walters, who's managing this month's vote, will post four finalists on Tuesday for a vote.
