Track of the Day: 'It All Feels Right'

The calm voice of Washed Out's Ernest Greene is nice on the ears, and his lyrics evoke the simplest of simple pleasures: swimming, walking in the woods. But it's the sensual escapism his music conveys that's most affecting. In the opening credits of IFC's Portlandia, Washed Out's "Feel It All Around" is used to paint the city in romantic hues, as if to affirm that the show is ultimately a love letter to Portland residents' left-of-center eclecticism. Greene adds more shades of feeling on "It All Feels Right" (from his upcoming album Paracosm), a psychedelic stroll through the dense, gorgeous thicket of a jungle. Rocking gently along, it nudges us toward visions of tropical serenity.
