Stuff That Black People Who Know White People Like

By Ta-Nehisi Coates
A friend who is black insists that my exploration into "white people or the white culture" is sorely lacking because the only song I know from the Rumours album is "Dreams." Plus I always play the Res version

Anyway this friend, who has assures me that her knowledge of  "white people or the white culture" is impeccable,  says I should follow her lead, regarding Rumors:

Every thanksgiving I listen to that album and watch The Big Chill. I feel like it's made me understand white people a little better.

Well, I already know a little about Fleetwood Mac. But this note got me wondering: What could be this Big Chill of which my friend speaks, and how may I partake? So I headed over to the handy Google machine and found some clips. Fascinating. At my current rate, I'll be passing strange any minute now.

Added Bonus: Being here in Cambridge, I'm sure I'll have multiple opportunities to reference this "Big Chill." (White people in New York are faking the funk. Or... something.) And it won't be awkward at all. Nothing better endears you to people than when you proceed as though they agree with everyone of their skin color about everything.

This is going to be great.
