(New to the book club? Read the 1book140 primer here.)

We mulled over several genres in the last two weeks as we decided what to read next. We considered historical fiction—in which I would pull a coup d'etat and declare Hilary Mantel's Bring Up the Bodies the winner by fiat—and food literature (not to be confused with cookbooks). Both are now high on the list.

But for now, mystery has won out: June is Whodunit month at 1book140. It's a big genre, and the nominations should reflect that. We'll be looking to put a few classics on the shortlist (I like Dorothy Sayers, but I hear there's this young writer out of Britain, Agatha Cristie, who has a way with the well-turned plot twist). And then there's Raymond Chandler and modern masters such as Tana French

We'll accept nominations through Saturday, then launch voting on Monday morning.
