Track of the Day: 'Everything Will Be Fine'

By Brendan Hasenstab

Past TracksAs fun as it has been to hear bright young things from England revive classic American R&B over the past few years, well, I've been hoping that America would find a way to do them one better. Look no further than Chicago's J.C. Brooks & The Uptown Sound. This crew has totally nailed the classic sound of soul music, and given it a fresh coat of paint that makes it truly relevant in 2012. This bouncy cut rides atop some stellar keyboard work and a hopped-up Motown beat. Some potent guitar elbows its way into the spotlight occasionally. And JC's vocals have the swagger of the storefront lawyer he plays in the music video. It's a powerful cocktail. Other tracks on their Want More album will remind you of artists as diverse at Curtis Mayfield and The Talking Heads. Don't miss out on this band.
