Johnny Jewel is a busy fellow these days. Between producing a new record, due out this summer, for Glass Candy (one of the bands he's in) or writing music for Hollywood films, he's cranked out a fantastic 17-track album for Chromatics, the other band he's in. How best to describe Chromatics' sound? Well, it definitely has chilly '80s synths, the sorts of bass lines that sit right out front, and a wispy singer who may remind you of Valerie Dore, or if you are under the age of 40, Sally Shapiro. This track, in particular, would slot beautifully into Side Two of any John Hughes film soundtrack you can name. Nocturnal, perhaps, but very comfortable at the same time.
