The Jerry Sandusky Interview

By Ta-Nehisi Coates

Here's the full deal. The fact that he thought this was a good idea gives some insight into Sandusky's mind. You really can convince yourself that anything is true.

MORE: Something else on this "convincing yourself" bit. I watched Run Ricky Run this weekend, a documentary which looks at the career of (now) running back Ricky Williams. It comes out in the piece that Williams (and possibly his other siblings) was molested by his father. The film-makers produce court records and his mother notes that she found explicit pictures the father had taken.

The father is interviewed in the film. He denies that he did it and then says something like, "I've since remarried and had three kids. I've never been charged again. People like that repeat that behavior. I have not." It was the most chilling moment in the documentary because watching that  I felt like he had.

People make the truth what they want it.
