Shakespeare's 'To Be or Not to Be' on the Ukulele

By Kasia Cieplak-Mayr von Baldegg

To be, or not to be, that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them?

Courtney Welbon memorized Hamlet's famous soliloquy for an AP English quiz by composing a song and singing it -- accompanied by her ukulele. She's quick to point out, though, that the mood of the song was never intended to reflect the drama of the play, but to help her remember the words. She got an A+ on the quiz, and how her upbeat song is going viral.
