In "The Shame of College Sports," Taylor Branch argues that college athletes should be paid. Agree or disagree.
Pay them. Let them have the option to take their salary in cash installments or to place it in a trust until after graduation, since most NCAA athletes will not get professional sports contracts and will instead march into corporate America with a flimsy degree in "sports entertainment marketing" or "sports sociology" cobbled together from their pass/fail course load. Athletes should also receive fancy cars from local slimy car dealers, gift cards to tattoo parlors, unlimited lap-dances at strip clubs, and brand new laptops. Athletes with a GPA of 3.5 or higher at graduation will receive $1 million bonus.
