I probably should have something to say, but I don't. Unfortunately I became familiar with Winehouse's addiction issues before I became aware of her music. I've generally found it hard to invest in contemporary artists who seem to tempt fate. I missed any real investment in Tupac's last years for that very reason. People have the right to live as they choose, but I don't want to be complicit in self-destruction.
Still, I'm going to give Back to Black some solid run. Enough smart people love Winehouse to convince me that I probably missed something special. More to the point, I'd rather not let my own prejudices blind me to good music.
