Duke Nukem Threatens Sites That Publish Negative Reviews

By Rebecca Greenfield

The reviews are out for the latest in the Duke Nukem franchise: It stinks. Sites across the Internet are railing on the new video game and not really holding back. Wired declared, "The first thing you need to know about Duke Nukem Forever is that it is a technical mess." And Ars Technica titled their take "Duke Nukem Forever: barely playable, not funny, rampantly offensive." The reviews are apparently too harsh for Duke Nukem to handle. Offended by the bad press, the Nukem PR team has threatened to punish organizations that run take-downs:

[T]he Redner Group's official Twitter account posted something you almost never see: an open threat stating that outlets who reviewed Duke Nukem Forever poorly may not receive review copies of games in the future. Anyone who has done this job for any amount of time has suffered through a dry spell after giving a publisher a bad review, but this is the first time the threat of a blacklist has been made public.
