The Webby Awards nominees were announced this morning. The idiosyncratic trophy organization rewards "the best of the web"—perhaps the only awards that nominate The Hangover's Zach Galifianakis and the New York Times' David Pogue in the same category. Spanning dozens of categories ranging from "Best Blog - Political" (congrats to TheAtlantic.com/Politics) to "Best Weird," the awards honor everything from news websites to web series to actors to viral videos.
The variety of areas being rewarded means the likes of Jim Carrey (Best Individual Performance, Funny or Die's Presidential Reunion) is nominated at the same ceremony as the Old Spice guy (Best Viral Marketing) and Twitter (Best Community). The full list of nominees—which include Lisa Kudrow, Snoop Dogg, Angry Birds, and "The Bed Intruder"—is available on the Webby Awards website. The winners, determined by both a judges panel and popular vote, will be announced June 13, when honorees will famously be asked to give four word acceptance speeches.
