James Blake has done such a task in "Limit to Your Love," with its elegiac chord progressions, dub-style echo chamber, and weighted voice. Strange symbols inhabit the video--of spinning fruit and garbage heaps--which I don't particularly understand, but when enveloped by the surreal and powerful effects of the song, all of these elements take on a new forlorn connotation. What that meaning is, I can't say, but it feels important.
