Did Obama Make Jon Stewart Look Bad?

President Obama is no stranger to talk show appearances. Since taking office he has visited Dave Letterman's Late Show, The Tonight Show, and even The View. After Obama went on The Daily Show last night, The New York Times' TV Watch blog pointed out that people no longer worry that these appearances demean the presidential office. But do they affect the credibility of the political comedians who host the shows?

When Mr. Obama said, "Jon, I don't want to lump you in with a lot of other pundits," Mr. Stewart smirked. Yet it wasn't an outlandish remark, it was a pointed one...

...Mr. Stewart usually has no trouble interrupting or getting the better of his most celebrated guests, but even he didn't want to push too far when face to face with the commander in chief.

Access is everything in Washington, but it can be the death of political satire.
