With just three episodes left in this season of True Blood, it looks like things are starting to come to a head. Some of the subplots are getting tied up to make way for the season-ending conflict, which seems likely to involve a vampire-human race war, courtesy of Russell.

Subplots moving toward resolution:

1.) Having driven Tara into Franklin's arms by shooting Eggs, Jason temporarily redeems himself by then shooting Franklin in the same parking lot. Maybe the two killings cancel each other out?

2.) In another example of "violence is the solution" (that's how the saying goes, right?): If Eric can just manage to kill Russell, then the V-dealing, treason charges, and the murders of the Magister and Talbot will presumably be overlooked by The Authority.

3.) Jessica and Hoyt are talking again! Perhaps they'll get back to studying a cure for her unfortunately regenerating virginity.

4.) ANY MINUTE NOW Bill is going to tell us what Sookie is.

Will any of these questions be resolved?

1.) Is there more to Holly than meets the eye? She came out of nowhere and suddenly has a big role, showing up to comfort Tara and Arlene when each seems near breakdown.

2.) What is Crystal? Come on, already.

3.) Will Tommy turn out to be a good kid after all, or is he just an unrepentant teenage brat? The dogs I've known who grinned his grin had a tendency to attack garbage cans and leave mysterious puddles everywhere out of spite.

This was an exciting episode, though I did feel a dearth of the usual snappy one-liners. The main one this week was Lafayette's mom saying, "Well, I'll be damned. Maybe God does love fags." I guess you have to take epiphanies where you can get them.
