Kanye West's 'Power' Video: What Is It, Exactly?

The "video" for Kanye West's single "Power" debuted last night after Jersey Shore, and no one quite knows how to describe it. West insists, "It's not a video, it's a painting," and that's technically true—the one and a half minute clip features a lifelike illustration of the rapper surrounded by images of women in various stages of undress and men battling one another with swords. But the way the figures move in the video, it looks more like a kaleidoscope, or a really elaborate, mesmerizing screensaver:
