Track of the Day: 'Hurricane'

Past Tracks

This Ms Mr track may be the best chillwave track of the first half of 2012. But it's more than that, thanks to the spectacular vocals and the sophisticated production. In a lot of ways, I wish the much-hyped Lana Del Rey had been moving in this direction when she blew up. Instead, the momentum falls to this so-far-anonymous New York City duo. The double-tracked vocals on the chorus really grab me, and if I were a tour manager for Lady Gaga, or better, Charli XCX or Icona Pop, I'd book these two as openers on the double. Moody and slinky. With autoharp! But also really, really good. As for the video, think of it as all of Tumblr squished into 3:46. Those with motion issues should probably stream it below.
