Wall Street Guys Suffer a Rain of F-Bombs and Abuse to Learn Boxing

More

"Motherf---ers beat you up as a kid and they still do today. You're a grown-ass man! I bet somebody gave you a wedgie on your way here!" Eric Kelly chides a client at the Church Street Gym in New York. The former boxing champion and trainer serves up lessons with scathing, and hilarious, criticism of his wealthy trainees. From this short documentary, one gets the sense that it's all part of his charm. Shot by Justin Chabot and edited by Nikolai Johnson for Animal New York, the film is definitely one-sided; we never hear from the clients or learn why they put up with his constant abuse. The title of the short says it all: Weak Men Pay This Boxing Coach to Tell Them They Are Terrible. One commenter named Adam comes to Kelly's rescue on the Animal New York website, however:

I worked out at this gym for years. This guy is probably the nicest, funniest employee at Church Street. Always joking, having a good time. Yeah he talks some shit. It's boxing; you should go there expecting that, wanting that.
