Rod Thomas, who records as Bright Light Bright Light, has a genuine hit on his hands with this heartfelt pop gem. It's an up-tempo, modern, quasi-house thumper, with an anthemic chorus built around the idea of holding out for that special romance. He's not settling for good-enough. "I want someone who reaches out / so we connect," he sings, "Oh, I want someone who reaches out / Someone who can show me love, but / You keep on telling me." Talk is cheap, as Keith Richards noted back in 1988. But demanding better? That never goes out of style.
