Track of the Day: 'Only a Memory'

Past TracksQuality garage rock never ages. The Smithereens achieved a fair amount of prominence back in the late 1980s, but they also caught a lot of flack from critics for being so clearly in awe of the Byrds and the Beatles. "Old wine in new bottles," was the essence of that critique. Well, that sells a talented band far too short. In fact, this lead-off track from Green Thoughts is one of the best songs the band has yet crafted. It shouldn't be only a memory.
