Track of the Day: 'Do You Believe'

Past TracksThe brilliantly-named Poolside is a pair of DJs/musicians based in Los Angeles, and has the Southern California sun has definitely seeped into their music. This song of theirs is an improbably slow house track, but it works. The ingredients snap together and form a light effervescence. We've got house piano, a clickity-clack beat, light funk bass, and a bit of triangle(!) plus gauzy tweaked vocals posing the Big Question: "Do you believe / That we have what it takes? / Do you believe our love is true?" Those are just about all the lyrics. It's a smooth ride, but then just before the two-minute mark, something utterly unexpected bubbles up. I won't spoil the surprise. But if you know your house music, I bet it will put a smile on your face.
