Players: CSI Actress Marg Helgenberger; Justin Bieber
Opening Serve: When recently interviewed on the French radio show Le Grand Direct des Medias, Helgenberger was asked about working with Bieber during his CSI guest appearance last year. Helgenberger divulged, "I shouldn't be saying this, but he was kind of a brat. He locked one of the producers in a closet...[and] he put his fist through a cake that was on a craft services table."
Return Volley: It didn't take long for Helgenberger's comments to be heard across the Atlantic. An offended Justien Bieber responded via Twitter: "It's kinda lame when someone you met briefly and never worked with comments on you. I will continue to with them luck and be kind...I know who I am and sometimes people r just going 2 say what they want. Keep ur head up and be the man ur mama raised. #killemwithkindness...Rumors are just that..rumors. In the end if you just be kind and be yourself people will know who you are. That goes for anyone I think." An hour later he added, "dont spread gossip and dont spread rumors about others...im a kid and i know that. #respect"
What They Say the Fight's About: Helgenberger obviously didn't enjoy Bieber's antics on set. Bieber makes clear in his Tweets today that he doesn't think Helgenberger has a right to comment on his behavior and insinuates that, perhaps, the cake punching and producer hostage-taking didn't exactly go down when he says, "rumors are just that...rumors."
What the Fight's Really About: Call us crazy, but this fight seems to have a certain maturity theme, and be based in the vast age and experience disparity between the two players. Helgenberger, 53, is an Emmy Award winner and has starred on CSI for almost 11 years. Bieber, on the other hand, is 17 and has catapulted from YouTube regular to global phenomenon in just two years.
Who's Winning Now: Bieber may be a brat but his fans are devout and it seems unlikely that Helgenberger's tale of the child star's on-set obnoxiousness will make even a dent in his success. Followers express their support for Beebs tweeting, "theres always gonna be people who try to bring u down..But just remember you always have our support :) #friends #family #fans," and "there is ALWAYS Gunna Be People telling you can't do something, There's always gunna be haters, Just Keep Smiling :)." Plenty of folks are also sick of Bieberdom, though, and might find Helgenberger's takedown refreshing. Lucky for Helgenberger, Bieber's appearance on CSI was probably a one-time thing.
