Like so many cable hosts, Fox's Bill O'Reilly spends most of his time talking about things that make him mad. As a result, he frequently seems mad. This in turn makes the people who watch his show mad, either because they a) agree with O'Reilly; or b) do not agree with O'Reilly, and can't understand why he's angry with them.
It's refreshing, therefore, when O'Reilly invites people not to take him so seriously. That's the effect the Fox host conveyed Friday night when he discussed 16-year-old Justin Bieber's recent Elle photo shoot with 29-year-old Kim Kardashian. In lieu of going for the statutory rape jugular, O'Reilly takes the sunny approach, poking fun at his prickly image while making well-honed (or accidentally hilarious, depending on one's perspective) observations about youth (" I wanted to be a baseball player. I didn't want to hang around with Kim Kardashian [at age 16]") and the cult of modern celebrity ("She's wearing a dress in the water. I'm not sure what that's supposed to represent").
