Eli Manning Is a Tough Guy After All

More

In last night's pre-season match-up against the Jets, New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning endured a brutal head injury during a second-quarter play. After the snap, Manning's helmet was accidentally knocked off by teammate Brandon Jacobs; a hard hit from Jets linebacker Calvin Pace sent Manning flying towards another Jets defender, causing blood to spew from the QB's forehead.

Even after getting roughed up, Manning was able to run off the field to seek medical attention. And despite needing 12 stitches to close the wound, he insisted, "It's really not an injury. Nothing serious. I really feel like I could go back out and play right now if I had to." Manning's nonchalant reaction to his injury is particularly remarkable considering his reputation as a wimp—he came in second as in a 2007 players poll about which NFL quarterback is easiest to intimidate. Will this incident finally help him to shake that "She-li Manning" moniker?
