Eleanor Barkhorn is an associate editor at The Atlantic, where she edits the Entertainment channel. She is a former producer for the Food channel. Before coming to The Atlantic, she was a reporter at the Delta Democrat Times in Greenville, Mississippi. She graduated from Princeton University, where she majored in American literature and wrote her senior thesis about Oprah's Book Club. For her first two years out of college, she taught high school English with the Teach For America program.

Snooki Arrested in New Jersey: For Real, or Performance Art?

Jersey Shore's Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi was arrested for disorderly conduct earlier today, TMZ reports:

Law enforcement sources tell us the Seaside Heights PD busted Snooki moments ago for disorderly conduct. The details of that conduct are unclear.

We're told Snooki—real name Nicole Polizzi—is currently in police custody.

In what could be seen as either a remarkable coincidence or a case of calculated good timing, Snooki's arrest comes the day after Jersey Shore's season two premiere aired. Is this brush with the law just an unfortunate incident, or the latest piece of performance art from a canny reality TV star?
