Born in 1975, the product of two beautiful parents. Raised in West Baltimore—not quite The Wire, but sometimes ill all the same. Studied at the Mecca for some years in the mid-’90s. Emerged with a purpose, if not a degree. Slowly migrated up the East Coast with a baby and my beloved, until I reached the shores of Harlem. Wrote some stuff along the way.

But What Will We Tell the Kids?

Yesterday, another dark secret of professional athletics came tumbling into view. Curt Schilling outed some 45 Major League ballplayers who have formed a World of Warcraft Guild. Their agents have allegedly conspired to conceal the scandal "for image reasons." Which makes sense. It's tough to see how the squeaky-clean image of contemporary athletes can possibly recover from this latest revelation.
