Born in 1975, the product of two beautiful parents. Raised in West Baltimore—not quite The Wire, but sometimes ill all the same. Studied at the Mecca for some years in the mid-’90s. Emerged with a purpose, if not a degree. Slowly migrated up the East Coast with a baby and my beloved, until I reached the shores of Harlem. Wrote some stuff along the way.

For all of you who haven't seen it, the Iron Man 2 trailer is here. Alyssa's worried that Scarlet Johansson can't quite do the Black Widow justice:

I thought Scarlett Johansson was good at playing sexy and devious in Match Point, but I don't know if she's good at playing secretly smart, which I think this role requires. In Match Point, she was devious but ultimately kind of dumb, which worked for the blank slate nature of the part. Black Widow's gotta have some depth.

It's criminal I know, but I haven't seen enough of Scarlett Johansson to know. I liked her in The Prestige. But then, I loved everything about The Prestige.
