Born in 1975, the product of two beautiful parents. Raised in West Baltimore—not quite The Wire, but sometimes ill all the same. Studied at the Mecca for some years in the mid-’90s. Emerged with a purpose, if not a degree. Slowly migrated up the East Coast with a baby and my beloved, until I reached the shores of Harlem. Wrote some stuff along the way.

I Haven't Been A Perfect Man

Yeasayer gets a lot of love around these parts. I haven't ordered the album yet, mostly because I haven't been moved by the snippets I heard. I'm going to do it soon. I kinda have to. But that said, this is a really lovely song.

The video is creepy. What's up with indie kids and these horror-influnced/nightmarish videos? That's been an adjustment for a black kid coming out of hip-hop. Thriller excepted, we don't really "do" horror in our videos around the way. Heh. I believe you'd get your ass kicked for watching something like this man...
