Born in 1975, the product of two beautiful parents. Raised in West Baltimore—not quite The Wire, but sometimes ill all the same. Studied at the Mecca for some years in the mid-’90s. Emerged with a purpose, if not a degree. Slowly migrated up the East Coast with a baby and my beloved, until I reached the shores of Harlem. Wrote some stuff along the way.

I keep meaning to post about this, but I've been distracted lately. Anyway, following up on last week (as all of you know by now) Annise Parker won Houston's mayor's race. I really don't know much about her or what she stands for (Counting on you guys to fill in the gaps.) so I don't know if I should be congratulating here.

Still, it's evidence of social progress. The movement is on. They can't stop it-- though they will try to contain it.
