In a transparent sop to the gay community, the White House has announced it will be posthumously awarding the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Harvey Milk and non-posthumously awarding one to Billy Jean King as well. It's great for two openly gay Americans to be recognized in this fashion. But I'd rather have civil rights myself.
