A Soft Power Back At Us

A reader makes a vital point about how this revolution has already helped shift views of Iran and Islam:

Ever since 9/11 I've been mad at Islam.  I've seen it taking us down a dangerous course to a new Dark Ages.  I've asked myself: Must every faith go through this fundamentalist course that breeds so much hate and destruction?

Seeing the silent marches in Iran is making me question these feelings.  These silent demonstrations of values, faith, and politics ring louder than any protest or sermon.  If the Iranians continue to guide this thing down a righteous path they will make history even if they don't overturn the election.  And their representation of their faith will rank with that of Ghandi's Hinduism and King's Christianity. I have my doubts, but a reformation of Islam--at least Iranian Shia Islam--could be at hand.

I am praying for them.
