Tiny Bits Of Clutter

I was happy to read your "Dissent of the Day" post that put your description of Roald Dahl's hut into a kinder context.  I visited the site, and was a bit dismayed to find that the hut was the same size as, and, if anything, more tidy than my own, one-room efficiency apartment.  I've always drawn a clear line between "filth" and "clutter".  My apartment is very seldom filthy, but it will always be deliciously cluttered.

You're probably aware of the late Quentin Crisp's views on the subject of dust (which, being typically sterile, I see as just so many tiny bits of clutter).  I paraphrase:

"After a few years, it doesn't get any worse...but I admit I must jump in the air when I put on my velvet trousers."
