Sunni Side Down, Ctd

Salam Pax, the Baghdad blogger, believes Musings On Iraq was too gloomy about Sunni turnout - a worry I echoed in one of my posts:

The four Iraqi governorates with a majority Sunni population are Mosul, Diayala, Salah al-Din and Anbar and here are the voter participation numbers as posted on Musings on Iraq:

………………………2009        2005
Mosul ………………60%        17%
Diayala …………….57%        34%
Salah al-Din ………65%        29%
Anbar………………..40%        2%

Not only have more people voted in each of the Sunni provinces this year but Salah al-Din has the highest voter turn out in Iraq, more than 10% above the national average.

It looks as if Salam may be right. My worry was Anbar. The Dish will keep monitoring the still-incomplete results and still-evolving interpretation of them.
