Angela Merkel takes on the pontiff. For a former member of the Nazi youth to reject even dialogue on questions such as women priests and yet to reach out to accommodate a sect that exists partly because it rejects the Second Council's teaching on the Jewish people: well, it says a lot. Thank God the German bishops aren't as intellectually and morally castrated as the American ones.
