Hewitt And Daschle

A reader warns:

Hewitt is an "unapologetic" apologist, so excuse me if I suspect an ulterior motive. I heard Thom Hartmann on Air America today saying that he was perfectly happy with Daschle dropping out, as Daschle is not a proponent of single-payer healthcare and anyway Hartmann would much prefer Howard Dean at HHS in any case (I share this view actually). I don't know if it's true or not, but I would guess that the spectre of Howard Dean at Health and Human Services could frighten many on the right into giving Daschle, who many of them see as reasonable if not malleable, a pass on any tax indiscretions rather than see Dean nominated.
