McCain's Convention Ad

A reader writes:

It seems a quite astute piece of political maneuvering, although I'm unsure about whether it will be successful. I think the intention is that the cable news programs will comment on it directly before or after Obama's speech, when arguably there will be the highest number of viewers. This should shore up McCain's greatly diminished reputation as an honorable campaigner,' although given the extreme hypocrisy of the ad, I am skeptical of even the talking heads taking it at face value.

Another:

We were all panicking for nothing.  It does make one wonder though, whether or not Obama can attack him effectively in his speech now when McCain just congratulated him.  Smart move, McCain.  The bastard.
