The violence in Iraq seems markedly down during the peak surge of occupation troops. But it's worth remembering that, as of now, 2007 remains the deadliest year for US troops since the invasion. These gains have not come from nowhere. They have been built on the ultimate sacrifice of so many so much younger and braver than many of us.
