This Is What the President's Tax Return Looks Like

President Obama and the First Lady have released their 2010 federal income and gift tax returns and the White House blog has the goods. Their adjusted gross income is $1,728,096, most of it made from the president's books. Their total federal tax burden was $453,770, for an effective tax rate of 26 percent, which is about average for the top quintile and slightly below average for a millionaire. The president got a considerable tax break from donating a seventh of his income to charity.
