As Megan noted earlier today, official compensation offers an incomplete picture of the full benefits of a job. This is especially true for the job of "most powerful figure in the country." For example, the official bennies of the office of President of Russia are worth quite a bit more than the equivalent of a U.S. law associate, I imagine.
