$8,000,000,000,000. Eight trillion dollars. That's the price tag of the federal government's economic rescue, including the stimulus package, company bailouts, new lending and the gargantuan asset purchases by the Fed. (And this was before the pension explosion.) It's hard to visualize $8 trillion unless you can, you know, actually see it.
