Turning Ideas Into Action at the Aspen Ideas Festival

The ninth annual Aspen Ideas Festival gathered many of today's most fascinating thinkers, artists, and leaders to discuss the issues that inspire them. The Festival took place from June 26 to July 2 on the breathtaking campus of the Aspen Institute, The Atlantic's longtime partner. 

Highlights of the weeklong program ranged from former Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords launching the "Rights and Responsibilities" tour to actress Anna Deavere Smith performing Martin Luther King, Jr.'s, "Letter from a Birmingham Jail" (first published in June 1963, soon after republished for a national readership in the July 1963 issue of The Atlanticwith cellist Yo-Yo Ma.
